23:0 ԶԻԱՐԴ ՆՆՋԻՑԵՆ ՎԱՆԱԿԱՆՔ:
| 23:0 How the Monks Are to Sleep:

23:1 ԱՅՐ իւրաքանչիւր առանձինն յիւրում անկողնին ննջիցէ:
| 23:1 Let the brethren sleep singly, each in a separate bed:
|
23:2 Մահիճք իւրաքանչիւր այնպէս յարդարեսցին, որպէս ինչ եւ Աբասուն լաւ թուիցի:
| 23:2 Let them receive the bedding befitting their mode of life, according to the direction of their Abbot:
|
23:3 Եթէ հնար իցէ, ամենեքին ի միում վայրի ննջիցեն. իսկ եթէ բազմութիւնն չտայցէ թոյլ տասն տասն կամ քսան քսան ընդ երիցագոյնսն որ զնոսայն խնամիցեն, հանգիցեն:
| 23:3 If it can be done, let all sleep in one apartment; but if the number doth not allow it, let them sleep in tens or twenties with the seniors who have charge of them:

23:4 Կանթեղ անդադար ի նմին խցի լուցեալ կայցէ մինչեւ ցառաւօտ:
| 23:4 Let a light be kept burning constantly in the cell till morning:
|
23:5 Ամենեքին զգեցեալք ննջիցեն գօտի կամ չուան ընդ մէջ:
| 23:5 Let them sleep clothed and girded with cinctures or cords, that they may be always ready:
|
23:6 Դանակս մի կալցին առ իւրեանս, զի մի գուցէ որ ննջիցենն, խոցիցին ի մէջ քնոյն:
| 23:6 but let them not have knives at their sides whilst they sleep, lest perchance the sleeping be wounded in their dreams:
|
23:7 Եւ զի յամենայն ժամ կազմ եւ պատրաստ գտանիցին վանականքն. եւ ի լինել նշանին առանց դանդաղելոյ յարուցեալ, փութասցի կանխել այր քան զընկեր իւր ի պաշտօն Աստուծոյ. սակայն ամենայն ցածութեամբ եւ մեղմական զգօնութեամբ:
| 23:7 and the sign having been given, rising without delay, let them hasten to outstrip each other to the Work of God, yet with all gravity and decorum:

23:8 Մանկագոյնք յեղբարցն ոչ ունիցին իւրեանց գահոյս առանձին, այլ խառն ընդ երիցագոյնսն:
| 23:8 Let the younger brethren not have their beds beside each other, but intermingled with the older ones:
|
23:9 Ի կանխել յԱստուծոյ պաշտօնն, այր զընկեր իւր յորդորիցէ չափով, զի մի պատճառս ինչ ունիցին քնէածքն:
| 23:9 and rising to the Work of God, let them gently encourage one another on account of the excuses of the drowsy:
