Ashot II “Yerkat” (Iron) (914–929) – Armenian king of the royal Bagratuni line. He was the son and successor of King Smbat I. His reign was filled with rebellions by pretenders to the throne, and foreign invasions, which Ashot fought off successfully, for which he is remembered by the epithet Yerkat, or the Iron.
Sahakanuysh – the third Queen of the Bagratid Kingdom and member of Aranshahik Dynasty. She was the wife of the third Bagratuni king – King Ashot Yerkat.

Gurgen Artsruni – Ashot Yerkat’s first cousin, son of his father Smbat’s sister, Sofia and Grigor Artsruni, Gagik Artsruni’s brother
Abas I – king of Armenia from 928 to 953. Abas was of the royal Bagratuni Dynasty. He was the son of Smbat I and the brother of Ashot “Yerkat” II. In contrast to the way his predecessors’ ruled, Abas’ reign was marked by years of peace, stability, and prosperity that Armenia had not enjoyed for decades.

Sahak Sevada – an Utik-Gardman prince and a rebel. The King’s father-in-law. He was the ruler of Gardman between 895-940. He was son and successor of Grigol Hamam. His possessions covered Parisos, as well as the part of Utik-Gardman and Dzoraget.

Yusuf – vostikan Arab governor plotting against Ashot Yerkat in conspiracy with Ashot the Usurper.
Beshir – an Arab military commander, referred to as Vostikan, Governor and Emir in different contexts, subordinate of Nusr.
Patriarch Gevorg of the Sevordis – father of Princess Aspram (wife of Tslik Amram, beloved of Ashot Yerkat).
Hovhannes Catholicos Draskhanakerttsi – was Catholicos of Armenia from 897 to 925, and a noted chronicler and historian. He is called John V the Historian, and is known for his History of Armenia.
Abas King – Ashot Yerkat’s Brother, who succeeds him because he has no heir.
Anania Narekatsi – Abbot of Narek Monastery, the uncle of St. Gregory of Narek.
Ashot Gntuni – governor of Tashir.
Ashot the Usurper (Brnavor) – Ashot Yerkat’s first cousin, his father Smbat I’s brother Shapuh Sparapet’s son.
