Where to Start?

This web-page has a wealth of information and learning activities.   People learn in different ways.   Some like to delve into topics of interest and pick up information and knowledge along the way.   Others prefer a guide and path.   The webpage is designed for both.

The materials on this site fall into three broad categories:

1)  Reference Materials – which you should read through and continue to refer back to as you do the learning activities – e.g., Home Resource Guide, Notes on Holy Communion, Get to the Root of It! Audio-Visual tutorials, and Modern Armenian Essentials

2)  On-Line Learning Activities – drills and flashcards

3)  Off-Line Learning Activities – you can print or use from your computer – worksheets, flashcards, posters, maps, timelines, etc.

Step 1:

The easiest place to start is with the Home Resource Guide.  Print it out in parts and assemble your Home Resource Guide binder.  Click here for instructions.

Step 2:

Read through the Home Resource Guide and listen to the Get to the Root of It! Audiovisual Tutorials.

OR

Select a Lesson Plan, 4-week8-10 week.

OR design your own course of study.

Step 3:

Download or print out components for your course of study.   All the materials on this site are accessible through the Index on the home page.

Home Resource Guide – printable family reference guide to the Armenian Church, Bible, History, Church and National Leaders, Badarak/Divine Liturgy, Prayers, Church Holidays, Modern Armenian (Eastern and Western).

Get to the Root of It! Church Armenian Audio – Visual Tutorials  – learn parts of the badarak, hymns, prayers, Armenian Church holidays and practices.

These materials are available in various formats.  You can listen to them on-line, download them for listening offline, or work from printed versions or powerpoint presentations.   The primary offline material for this is Notes on Holy Communion in the Armenian Church, which you can use on or offline in interactive, multimedia format, or print out as a convenient brochure.

Alphabet Primer – Finally, an easy way to learn to read the Alphabet.   All you need to know is the Hayr Mer and a few other common phrases from Church and you’re on your way.

Words and Phrases from Holy Communion – These are on-line exercises, flashcards, and printable worksheets for home and school.

Modern Armenian Essentials – With these 200 words and phrases, you will be equipped to handle negotiate your way through common Church or family interactions in modern Armenian.   Both Eastern and Western versions are available, in on-line and offline audio-visual phrasebooks.   To help you learn and master these words and phrases, there are on-line drills and flashcards, printable worksheets and flashcards.

Posters and Prayerblocks –  Map, Timeline, Namecards, and Prayerblocks.   Ready to download, print, and cut/past and hang on your walls.
