71:0 ԹԷ ՄԻ ՈՔ ԻՇԽԵՍՑԷ ԶԸՆԿԵՐ ԻՒՐ ԳԱՆ ՀԱՐԿԱՆԵԼ ԿԱՄ Ի ՀԱՂՈՐԴՈՒԹԵՆԷ ՈՐՈՇԵԼ:
| 71:0 That No One Presume to Strike Another:
| 71:1 Զի ամենայն իսկ յանդգնութեան պատճառք կարճեսցին բարձցին ի միջոյ ի վանսն, հրաման տամք եւ պատուիրեմք մի իշխել ումեք զիւր եղբայր մերժել ի կցորդութենէ կամ գան հարկանել, բայց յայնմանէ որում ի հօրէն համարձակ իցէ:
| 71:1 Let every occasion for presumption be avoided in the monastery. We decree that no one be permitted to excommunicate or to strike any one of his brethren, unless the Abbot hath given him the authority:
| 71:2 Իսկ որ մեղանչիցեն ինչ, առաջի ամենեցուն յանդիմանեսցին, զի եւ այլքն երկիցեն:
| 71:2 But let those who transgress be taken to task in the presence of all, that the others may fear:
| 71:3 Մանկանց մինչեւ ցհնգետասան ամ հասակի իւրեանց, զփոյթ խրատու եւ զպահպանութիւն յամենայնի ի վերայ դնիցեն: Սակայն այս ամենայն չափով եւ իմաստութեամբ: Քանզի ի վերայ այնոցիկ որ յառոյգ հասակի իցեն, եթէ սակաւ ինչ ոք առանց Աբասուն հրամանի սաստկութեամբ ճոխանայցէ, եւ կամ ի վերայ այնոցիկ որ դեռ եւս ի տղայ տիսն իցեն, առանց ինչ զգուշութեան ոք խիզախիցէ, ընդ կանոնական խրատուքն անկանիցի. Քանզի գրեալ իսկ է, թէ Զոր ոչն կամիցիս թէ լինիցի քեզ, այլում մի առնիցես:
| 71:3 Let all, however, exercise diligent and watchful care over the discipline of children, until the age of fifteen; but even that, within due limits and with discretion. For if anyone should presume to chastise those of more advanced years, without the command of the Abbot, or should be unduly provoked with children, let him be subject to the discipline of the Rule; because it is written: “ What thou dost not wish to be done to thee, do not thou to another:
