1:1 Ո՞ւր ես, մայր իմ. քաղցր եւ անուշ. Սէր ծնողիդ զիս այրէ. Լցան աչք իմ դառն արտասւօք, Ոչ ոք ունիմ, որ սրբէ. Ազդ արարէք մօրն իմոյ, Որ գայ կարօտն իւր առնէ. Գուցէ երբեք յետոյ եկեալ Եւ զիս մեռեալ գտանէ:
| 1:1 Where are you, my mother, sweet and kind? I long for your parental love. My eyes are filled with bitter tears, but I have no one to wipe them. Call my mother that she might satisfy her longing. Perhaps she will come too late and find me dead:
| 1:2 Ո՛վ Մարիամ Մագդաղինէ Եւ ազգակից Սողոմէ. Վա՛յ ինձ, Յիսուս Միածին Որդի Արեգակն կորուսի. Ո՞ւր ես, առաջ լոյս իմ Որդեակ Հոգւոյս հոգի իմ Զաւակ. Վայ իմ որդեակ, անոյշ գառնուկ Առանց քեզի մնացի որբուկ. Ո՛վ Մարիամ, եւ դուք, կանա՛յք, Ինձ հետ լացէք, ողբացէք:
