5:1 Սարկաւագ. Ալէլուիա, ալէլուիա. Ահա չափով եդիր զաւուրս իմ, եւ կար զօրութեան իմոյ որպէս ոչինչ է առաջի իմ. սակայն ընդունայն է ամենայնի մարդ մսեղի։ Ապաքէն որպէս ի պատկերի շրջի մարդ, սակայն ի զուր խռովի, գանձէ եւ ոչ գիտէ ում ժողովէ, Սաղմոս {39:5-6} :
| 5:1 Deacon: Alleluia, alleluia. Behold, Thou hast made my days a few handbreadths, and my lifetime is as nothing in Thy sight. Surely every man stands as a mere breath! Surely man goes about as a shadow! Surely for naught are they in turmoil; man heaps up, and knows not who will gather:
| 5:2 Պօղոսի առաքելոյն ի Կորնթացւոց երկրորդ թղթոյն է ընթերցուածս {(Ա։ 3-11)}: Օրհնեալ է Աստուած եւ Հայր Տեառն մերոյ Յիսուսի Քրիստոսի, Հայր գթութեանց եւ Աստուած ամենայն մխիթարութեան. որ մխիթարէն զմեզ յամենայն նեղութիւնս մեր, առ ի կարող լինելոյ մեզ մխիթարել զայնոսիկ՝ որ յամենայն նեղութիւնսն իցեն, մխիթարութեամբն՝ որով մեք մխիթարիմք յԱստուծոյ։ Զի որպէս առաւելան չարչարանքն Քրիստոսի ի մեզ, նոյնպէս եւ ի ձեռն Քրիստոսի առաւել լիցի եւ մխիթարութիւնն մեր։ Զի եթէ նեղիմք, վասն ձերոյ մխիթարութեան եւ փրկութեան. եւ եթէ մխիթարիմք, վասն ձերոյ մխիթարութեան եւ փրկութեան. որ յաջողեալն է համբերութեամբ նոցին չարչարանաց, զոր եւ մեքն չարչարիմք. եւ յոյսն մեր հաստատուն է վասն ձեր, քանզի գիտեմք եթէ որպէս կցորդ եմք չարչարանացն՝ նոյնպէս եւ մխիթարութեանն։ Քանզի ո՛չ կամիմ տգէտ լինել ձեզ եղբարք՝ վասն նեղութեան մերոյ եղելոյ յԱսիա. զի առաւել քան զկար մեր ծանրացաք, մինչեւ անյոյս լինելոյ մեզ եւ ի կենաց։ Այլ անձամբ յանձինս զվճիռ մահու ընկալաք. զի մի՛ յանձինս ապաստանիցիմք, այլ յԱստուած՝ որ յարուցանէ զմեռեալս. որ յայնպիսի մահուանէ փրկեաց զմեզ՝ եւ փրկեսցէ. քանզի յուսացեալ եմք, եթէ տակաւին փրկեսցէ օգնականութեամբ աղօթից ձերոց վասն մեր:
| 5:2 The reading is from the Second Epistle of St. Paul to the Corinthians. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. For as we share abundantly in Christ’s sufferings, so through Christ we share abundantly in comfort too. If we are afflicted, it is for your comfort and salvation; and if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which you experience when you patiently endure the same sufferings that we suffer. Our hope for you is unshaken; for we know that as you share in our sufferings, you will also share in our comfort. For we do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, of the affliction we experienced in Asia; for we were so utterly, unbearably crushed that we despaired of life itself. Why, we felt that we had received the sentence of death; but that was to make us rely not on ourselves but on God who raises the dead; he delivered us from so deadly a peril, and He will deliver us; on Him we have set our hope that he will deliver us again. You also must help us by prayer, so that many will give thanks on our behalf for the blessing granted us in answer to many prayers:
