The Rule of St. Benedict is one of the cornerstones of Christian spiritual and communal life. Written in 516 by St. Benedict (480-550), it was translated into Classical Armenian by St. Nerses Lambronatsi (1153–1198) in the 12th century and adopted and adapted by Armenian monastic communities before and after to greater and lesser degrees, including the Mechitarist (Armenian Catholic) congregations of Venice (1700) and Vienna (1810) orders. As a classic of Western thought, this trilingual (Armenian, Latin, English) concordance is presented for those interested in studying the Armenian text of the Rule.
